Maintenance
Check out our tips to prevent many common issues and extend the life of your Zanussi Refrigerator.
Regular Cleaning
Switch off and unplug the refrigerator before carrying out any cleaning or maintenance work. Clean the inside and accessories with warm water and bicarbonate of soda (5ml to 0.5 litre of water). Avoid using soap or detergents as they may leave a smell. Dry thoroughly. For the outside, use warm soapy water. Never use abrasive products, highly perfumed cleaning products, or wax polishes.
Condenser and Compressor Maintenance
Once or twice a year, clean the condenser (black grill) and the compressor at the back of the appliance using a brush or vacuum cleaner to remove dust. This helps maintain efficient performance and reduces electricity consumption.
Temperature Setting
Use the thermostat to set the temperature. The intermediate position (3-4) is usually suitable. During hot weather, if the thermostat is set too high, the cooling system may operate continuously and the fridge cooling plate may not defrost. Adjust the thermostat to a lower setting to resume automatic defrosting.
Avoid Overloading
Do not overload the refrigerator with warm food or evaporating liquids, as this can cause the compressor to run continuously and reduce the efficiency of the appliance.
Proper Food Storage
Ensure that food is packed in airtight packages to avoid unnecessary frosting. Allow warm food to cool to room temperature before placing it in the fridge. Thaw frozen food in the fridge to ensure safer defrosting and reduce the work of the refrigeration unit.
